基督教青年会(英文缩写为YMCA)、基督教女青年会(英文缩写为YWCA)统一简称为青年会，十九世纪初创于英国伦敦,是以“服务社会、造褔人群”为宗旨的社会公益组织,目前遍布世界120多个国家和地区。在高等院校社工专业课程中,讲到国际和国内最早的专门公益组织和义工运动起源时,都会谈到基督教青年会。作为国际化公益组织,目前中国内地北京、天津、上海、广州、成都、西安、武汉、南京、杭州、厦门等十个城市有基督教青年会、基督教女青年会,并在各地社会公益服务领域发挥着重要作用和积极影响。
      厦门市基督教青年会创办于1912年,厦门市基督教女青年会创办于1929年,早期在本地区现代体育、社会服务和音乐教育领域均发挥过重要启蒙和推动作用。青年会体育部是厦门第一个正式体育机构，1915年11月27日，青年会在厦港演武亭举行厦门有史以来第一次运动会，1931年在鼓浪屿田尾海滨举办第一届环鼓浪屿国际游泳赛，1934年组织举办厦门第一届航舟竞赛。作为以会员制为基础的志愿者组织机构，厦门基督教青年会目前所开展的社会服务事工有弱势群体关怀、社区与居家服务、讲座培训及多样化的文体康乐活动。我们的努力目标是：塑造健全的青年，培育稳固的家庭，构建和谐的社区，扶助弱势的群体，营造温馨的厦门。近年来,作为专注于社会服务和海内外民间交流的社会公益组织,通过整合汇聚资源,发挥综合优势,结合社会需求,开展长者服务、特殊青少年群体服务、国际公益活动倡导和关注社会民生需要等多元化的公益服务事工。同时,充分借助厦门的区位优势,积极拓展两岸民间音乐艺术交流和青少年文化交流,本会自2007年主办并延续的“四海同歌”海峡两岸YMCA联合音乐会,已成为颇具影响力的两岸三地交流品牌项目。
      厦门市会在全国十个市会中是基础条件和人员规模相对较弱的,但我们却有优秀而强大的义工群体作为保障，特别是近年来青年义工的不断兴起,让我们看到未来做好社会公益服务事工的坚强后盾和美好前景，感谢长期以来关心和支持本会社会服务事工的政府部门与合作伙伴,感谢长期以来积极参与本会社会服务事工的会员及义工朋友们!相信在理事会、干事部、会员(单位)和义工伙伴们的共同努力下,本会一定能够持续践行博爱和服务理念,开启促进社会和谐发展的新篇章!

The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) and the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), collectively known as the Youth Association, were founded in London, England in the 9th century. They are social welfare organizations with the aim of "serving society and benefiting people", and currently spread to more than 120 countries and regions around the world. In social work courses at higher education institutions, when discussing the origins of the earliest specialized public welfare organizations and volunteer movements both internationally and domestically, the Young Men's Christian Association is often mentioned. As an international public welfare organization, there are currently ten cities in mainland China, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi'an, Wuhan, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Xiamen, where the Young Men's Christian Association and the Young Women's Christian Association play important roles and have a positive impact in the field of social welfare services in various regions.
The Xiamen Young Men's Christian Association was founded in 1912, and the Xiamen Young Women's Christian Association was founded in 1929. In the early days, it played an important role in enlightening and promoting modern sports, social services, and music education in the local area. The Sports Department of the Youth Association was the first official sports institution in Xiamen. On November 27, 1915, the Youth Association held the first ever Xiamen Games at Yanwu Pavilion in Xiamen Port. In 1931, the first Gulangyu International Swimming Competition was held at Tianwei Beach on Gulangyu Island. In 1934, the first Xiamen Rowing Competition was organized. As a volunteer organization based on a membership system, the Xiamen YMCA currently carries out social service work that includes caring for vulnerable groups, community and home services, lectures and training, and diverse cultural and recreational activities. Our goal is to shape healthy youth, cultivate stable families, build harmonious communities, assist vulnerable groups, and create a warm Xiamen. In recent years, as a social welfare organization focused on social services and domestic and foreign civil exchanges, it has integrated and gathered resources, leveraged comprehensive advantages, and combined with social needs to carry out diversified public welfare services such as elderly services, special youth group services, international public welfare activities advocating and paying attention to the needs of society and people's livelihood. At the same time, taking full advantage of Xiamen's location advantages, we actively expand cross-strait folk music and art exchanges and youth cultural exchanges. The "Four Seas Singing Together" Cross Strait YMCA Joint Concert, hosted and continued by our association since 2007, has become an influential brand project for cross-strait and three place exchanges.
Xiamen City Council is relatively weak in terms of basic conditions and personnel scale among the ten city councils in China, but we have an excellent and strong volunteer group as a guarantee, especially the continuous rise of young volunteers in recent years, which shows us a strong shield and bright prospects for doing a good job in social welfare service in the future. -/2024 Menben Mou Nu Jiao Zhuan Wei Hui Ri Shi provides this opportunity to thank the government departments and partners who have long cared for and supported our social service work, and to thank the members and volunteer friends who have actively participated in our social service work for a long time! I believe that with the joint efforts of the council, executive department, members (units), and volunteer partners, our association will continue to practice the concept of universal love and service, and open a new chapter in promoting social harmony and development!
